We Believe…

 Wisdom in A Whisper is a non-denominational, non-political ministry.

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible. We believe the authors were “Moved by the Holy Spirit” and did not write their own words but rather the very words of God. (2 Peter 1:20-21) Therefore, we believe the Bible in the original manuscript is without error. As a result of its divine origin, it is authoritative and sufficient in its completeness for the purposes for which it was written, and it is to be believed as God’s instruction, in all that it affirms, obeyed, as God’s command, in all that it requires; and embraced, as God’s pledge, in all that it promises. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We believe that according to Orthodox Protestant tradition, the canonical Bible consists of sixty-six books, thirty-nine books of the Hebrew Old Testament and twenty-seven books of the Greek New Testament. The central theme of the Bible is the person and work of Jesus Christ (Luke 24:27, 44), and all scripture testifies to Him, foretelling His first and second coming and salvation for humankind through faith in Jesus Christ. (John 5:39; Acts 17:2–3; 18:28; 26:22–34; 28:23)

Biblical Principles

Principle 1: Fear God and keep His commandments (Equip)

  •  “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
    (Proverbs 15:33)

  • “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)

  • “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Principle 2: God desires us to fellowship with Him and each other in love. (Support)

  •  The second is this, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” - (Mark 12:31)

  • “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”- (Proverbs 27:17)

  • “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labour. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.” - (Ephesians 4:9-10)

  • “Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.” - (1 Corinthians 12:27)

Principle 3: Jesus led by serving others and called His disciples to do the same. (Inspire)

  • “So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, Do you know what I have done to you?” - (John 13:12)

  • “It is not this way among you, but whoever wants to become prominent among you shall be your servant and whoever desires to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” - (Matthew 20:26-28)

  • “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7)

Doctrinal Statement

  1. There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

  2. Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Therefore, He is perfect Deity, and true humanity united in one person forever.

  3. Jesus lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

  4. On the third day, He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

  5. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

  6. Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God and, as a result, was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation.

  7. Humankind’s nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every person is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

  8. The salvation of humankind is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justified them in His sight.

  9. It is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written word.
