Life, Light, Redemption

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5 ESV

The moment Adam and Eve listened to Satan’s lies, questioning God and disobeying His orders, something entered into the picture: sin, darkness and death. Not the type of death that they might have expected, but rather, spiritual death. What was perfect was suddenly broken and in need of redemption. That redemption came to the world in the form of a baby, born in a stable and laid in a manger. His name is Immanuel, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23); in Him are life, light, hope and redemption.

The holiday season is meant to be a time of happiness. Yet, I am reminded that the season brings feelings of loneliness, isolation, and remembrance of things lost for many. Perhaps a broken relationship or a lost loved one. One might even feel guilty for feeling depressed in a season of joy. No matter your circumstances or the difficulties you may be facing, know that you are not alone. As the scripture says, God is with you! He is the light in the darkness, an everlasting light that will endure forever. And with Him are the hope of healing, the mending of broken relationships and the gift of redemption.

“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 ESV

May this Christmas bring you hope, peace, and rest.

With love in Christ,

Brad
